WEEK 1 · 14–20 SEPTEMBER 2026

Starting my professional practice journey at GetZero

Professional practice reflective journal

Exploring partnership development and opportunities in the green skills sector.

Work activities

My first week at GetZero marked the beginning of my professional practice as a Partnerships and Marketing Intern. During induction, I became familiar with the organisation's mission of supporting green skills development and helping young people explore emerging career opportunities.

Partnership development was a central priority from the outset. My initial responsibilities required me to understand GetZero's existing partnerships, identify relevant stakeholders and begin exploring potential business development opportunities, particularly within the electric vehicle (EV) sector.

I also reviewed introductory materials, explored the Green Skills Coach and familiarised myself with the organisation's digital tools and working practices.

Personal reflection

This first week helped me understand that effective partnership development requires more than identifying potential contacts. It involves understanding organisations' priorities, recognising shared interests and communicating a convincing value proposition.

Although I have extensive experience in automotive operations and supplier relationships, I recognised that developing partnerships within the UK's green skills ecosystem requires a different approach.

I began considering how my automotive knowledge could help me engage confidently with EV-sector stakeholders while applying the marketing and analytical skills developed during my MSc.

This experience established a clear direction for my professional development: strengthening my understanding of the EV ecosystem, improving stakeholder engagement and contributing to GetZero's partnership development objectives.
