WEEK 5 · 12-18 OCTOBER 2026
Bringing green career stories to life
Professional practice reflective journal

Beyond practical construction skills: The King's Trust programme also provided opportunities for participants to express their creativity and showcase their artistic talents.
Work Activities
During my fifth week at GetZero, I focused on communicating the experiences of young people participating in The King's Trust green construction programme.
The programme's Celebration Day provided an opportunity to capture participants' experiences, achievements and aspirations. I contributed to gathering video material and interviewing participants, including Siyaa and Konrad, to explore how the programme had influenced their understanding of construction careers.
I also worked on developing video storytelling content for GetZero's digital channels, considering how longer interviews could be adapted into shorter, engaging formats for social media.
These activities connected my digital marketing responsibilities with GetZero's wider objectives of raising awareness and supporting access to green career opportunities.
Personal Reflection
This experience reinforced my understanding that effective marketing storytelling should focus on authentic human experiences rather than promotional messages alone.
Listening to participants helped me recognise how practical training can influence confidence, career awareness and future aspirations.
I also discovered the challenges of translating interviews into compelling digital content. Selecting meaningful moments, maintaining a clear narrative and adapting messages for different audiences require careful editorial decisions.
The experience encouraged me to consider how participant stories could support both youth engagement and business development by demonstrating the potential impact of GetZero's programmes.
Moving forward, I aim to strengthen my video editing and storytelling skills while producing content that connects individual experiences with measurable programme outcomes.
