Connecting young people with green careers

Work Activities

During my fourth week at GetZero, I became more involved in The King's Trust green construction programme, which supports young people in exploring career opportunities within the sector.

The programme's Taster Day on 5 October provided an opportunity to learn about the activities designed to introduce participants to construction-related skills and career pathways.

I also explored how the programme could be communicated through digital marketing, particularly by highlighting participants' experiences and demonstrating the value of practical career development opportunities.

These activities helped me better understand GetZero's collaboration with delivery partners and the importance of communicating programme outcomes to different audiences.

Personal Reflection

This week encouraged me to consider green skills development from the perspective of young people rather than employers alone.

I recognised that awareness of career opportunities cannot be taken for granted. Young people may need practical experiences, accessible information and encouragement before considering careers in unfamiliar industries.

The programme also highlighted the importance of storytelling in digital marketing. Communicating participants' experiences can make green careers more relatable while demonstrating the value of partnerships to potential employers.

I began to see a stronger connection between GetZero's marketing activities and its business development objectives: engaging young people creates meaningful stories that can help attract future partners.

Moving forward, I aim to develop content that communicates both the participants' experiences and the wider value of green skills programmes.
